Primary Small Bowel Volvulus in Adults - a difficult diagnosis in a Low-income country

Abstract

Primary small bowel volvulus is a relatively rare cause of small bowel obstruction but can be fatal. The chief problem is differentiating it from other causes of obstruction that can be treated conservatively. We report two cases of primary small bowel volvulus within a 2 months period in a regional hospital in the
south west region of Cameroon and briefly review the literature.
