Abstract

This study investigated gender differences in quality of work life of police personnel. The research employed a cross-sectional survey design. Using proportionate and simple random sampling techniques, 588 police personnel (193 females; 395 males) with a mean age of 39.13 years (SD=8.17) from 2 police headquarters in 2 south-western states in Nigeria were selected for the study. The study hypothesis was tested with a t-independent test. Results indicated that male police personnel had better perception of their quality of work life than their female counterparts. The findings of this study revealed that gender considerations are important in police personnel’s quality of work life. In order to enhance the quality of work life of female police personnel, it is recommended that the Ministry of Police Affairs in Nigeria should provide some form of training for female police personnel that would help improve their quality of work life.
