Critique of Distance Learning Programme in Nigeria: The Case of National Teachers Institute

Abstract
This paper examined the concept of distance education outlining its characteristics. It discussed the National Teacher Institute (NTI) programme in Nigeria, the objectives and the benefits. The critic of the mode of operation of NTI distance learning programme as it concerns the management, admission requirement, the curriculum, instructional method, materials and technology used, and library services were highlighted. The problems in the operation of the programme wee stated and possible solutions proffered.
