The Indispensability of Women in Conflict Resolution in the Niger Delta

Abstract

Nigeria is beset with many problems and the Niger Delta crisis is one of them. Niger Delta crisis has persisted because the appropriate strategy for resolving it has not been employed. Women have not been recognized as major stake holders in all the peace processes undertaken and they possess the natural, inherent peace building ability that need to be tapped. This
paper discussed how women have helped in peace building and urges the Nigerian Government to include and empower women in peace building and political leadership in order to move the country forward.
