Focus and Scope

Journal for the Study of Religion is published twice a year in March and September by the Association for the Study of Religion in Southern Africa as a forum for scholarly contributions of up to 6000 words on topics of contemporary significance in the academic study of religion, in the form of articles, responses to articles, review articles and shorter book reviews.


Articles published are subject to evaluation by independent referees drawn from the International Editorial Advisory Board and the Editorial Consultants, or by other experts in the international and local academic community.


Views expressed do not necessarily represent those of the Editors, the Editorial Board, the International Editorial Advisory Board, the Association, or bodies which may assist the journal financially.


This journal is listed in Ulrich's International Periodicals Directory. Material published is indexed with abstracts in Religion Index One: Periodicals, and is also indexed in the Index to South African Periodicals.
