Attitude change and legislation as tools for enhancing eye donation rate for corneal transplantation

Abstract
This paper outlines issues that are related to eye donation in Nigeria. The
issues highlighted include concept of corneal blindness, corneal diseases,
symptoms of corneal diseases, attitude towards eye donation, benefits of attitude change towards eye donation, legislation on eye donation, and problems of legislation on eye donation. It was recommended that guidance and counselling and legislation should be adopted to change
peoples’ negative attitude to eye donation and encourage voluntary donations.
