Author Guidelines

A paper is peer-reviewed for publication on the understanding that it is not being reviewed for publication simultaneously by another Journal; has not been accepted for publication elsewhere; and has not already been published.

The Journal will publish original articles, review articles, case reports and letters to the editor. Contributions must be in Standard English and should be as concise as possible.

Original articles may be in the clinical or laboratory medical sciences, not more than 2000 words with a maximum of 6 illustrations (figures and tables). Review articles are usually commissioned but unsolicited reviews are welcome. A review article should be between 3000 and 5000 words, including references and may contain illustrations (figures and tables). Case reports and letters to the editor should be at most 600 words long and may contain a maximum of 2 illustrations. Letters may be originated by the authors de novo or be a reaction to previously published works in the Journal or on issues of relevance to Medicine and medical practice.

Authors are requested to send three hard copies and an electronic copy on a floppy disk, in Microsoft Word format, of all documents, tables and figures including photographs. There are no extra charges for reproducing black and white photographs but authors may be charged for the reproduction of colour photographs and figures. Authors are required to pay a sum of N1000.00 (one thousand Naira only) processing fee into the OJM account with Diamond Bank (Account no 0182010010062) and forward the pay-in slip with the manuscript.

All manuscripts are subject to editorial review. Manuscript not accepted may only be returned to the author on demand and if the author pays for the return postage.

Each table, with a brief title, should be typed on a separate page. Illustrations should be submitted in the form of glossy prints and should not be mounted. Each illustration should have a label pasted on the reverse side giving its number (to correspond with its reference in the text).
