Author Guidelines

Shakespeare in Southern Africa sets out to publish articles, commentary and reviews on all aspects of Shakespearean studies and performance, with a particular emphasis on the response to Shakespeare in southern Africa. Scholarly notes of a factual nature are also welcome. Submissions are reviewed by at least two referees, who may be either Editorial Consultants or members of the Advisory Board. The practice of ‘blind’ reviewing is adhered to. Articles submitted by the Editors will not be published unless this is recommended by independent referees. The Journal is accredited for subsidy purposes.
Submissions may be sent via email to the Editor, Dr. Christopher Thurman
(christopher.thurman@wits.ac.za), preferably in MS Word, but two printed copies must also be sent through the post to Bev Cummings-Penlington (ISEA, R.U., Box 94, Grahamstown, 6140) to whom e-mail copies may also be sent for preparation for publication once the referees have
approved the printed text (b.cummings@ru.ac.za). Please note that submissions should conform to the Journal’s house style as far as possible, with notes and references appearing separately at the end of the article. Full publication details must be provided for all sources cited. The Editor reserves the right not to consider work which is not accurately and fully documented.

  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
