Focus and Scope
The IUCN Vulture Specialist Group and Vulture Study Group (VSG) are international organisations devoted to Accipitrid and Cathartid vulture conservation, research and education. The VSG was founded in 1973, whilst the IUCN VSG was founded in 2011.
The VSG is part of the Endangered Wildlife Trust’s Birds of Prey Programme, which is a not for profit conservation action body particularly concerned with vulnerable and endangered species. To receive Vulture News, supporters subscribe to the Birds of Prey Programme – details of which can be obtained from the senior administrator, Zelda Hudson: zeldah@ewt.org.za
Vulture News is the journal of the IUCN VSG. It is published biannually and is a venue for publishing research, news, information and reports on vultures and condors, and their conservation in all parts of the word where they occur. Contributions from ornithologists, research biologists, bird watchers, conservationists and any other interested people are encouraged.
In particular, papers with a strong conservation biology focus and/or analyses of specialist data are encouraged. All full articles are subject to double blind peer-review.
