Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) is a complex autoimmune disease of unknown aetiology, characterised by a wide variety of clinical features and presence of numerous auto-antibodies, circulating immune complexes and widespread immunologically determined tissue damage; renal disease is a common manifestation. This report is that of a young lady, diagnosed 4 months earlier with SLE, who presented with deep venous thrombosis and had a flare of lupus nephritis and improved remarkably on methyl prednisolone, azathioprine, anticoagulants and dialytic intervention.
