The Efficacy Of Parenteral Multivitamin Preparation (Eldervit 12®) To Improve Moderate Post Traumatic Anaemia A Preliminary Report

Abstract

We investigated the efficacy of parenteral multivitamin Eldervit-12 (El2) to improve the haematocrit or packed cell volume (PCV) level in haemodynamically stabilized patients with post trauma moderate anaemia. They were randomized into 2 groups with 11 patients in group A having Eldervit-12 parenterally added to their treatment regimen while 11 patients in group B only received their prescribed regimen. PCV values were determined for both groups on days 5 and 10 of the trial. There was a significant rise in
PCV values in group A patients from baseline, mean PCV of 26.2% to 29% at day 5 and to 30.6%.byday 10 (p<0.001). The control group showed marginal but statistically insignificant increase between baseline mean PCV and final values.
