Abstract

Analysis of the pastures dynamics around hydraulic structures pastoral areas of West Batha in Chad

The objective of this survey is to analyze and under stand the evolution of vegetation grazed mechanism in the context of strong pastoral pressures stemming from the establishment of pastoral wells. The vegetation was studied by the classical method of vegetation survey and phyto sociological approach. The study showed a regressive dynamic marked by a significant decline in woody and herbaceous species diversity in the immediate vicinityof the wells at the expense of a certain homogenization therefore a decrease in grazing operations. The dynamics are characterized by the proliferation of Acaciatortilis and Balanites aegyptiaca due to the movement of animals and ancestry of Cenchrus biflorus and Schoenefeldia gracilis on other herbaceous species. However, livestock wells do not pose a threat to the future production of these spaces because they allowed removing the constraints that prevent their use in the dry season. However, their system must be coupled with effective management of space pledge securing mobility. Therefore, in the context of sustainable management of natural resources and securing pastoral systems, several intervention strategies were recommended.
