Teacher and Student Perceptions of Teacher Oral Communication Behaviour in the Algebra Classroom

Abstract

This paper examines student and teacher perceptions of teacher oral communication behaviour in the algebra classroom. These perceptions are the views expressed by 4 students and 3 teachers from a university in western state of U.S.A. This study employed qualitative research methodology for its research design and analysis. The sources of data consisted of open-ended questions, and then followed by a semistructured interview of all participants. The data were analyzed by using content analysis of the transcripts.
