Abstract

This paper outlines the benefits attained through Internet communication as perceived by the livestock farmers and the correlates of such perceived benefits. The findings of the study based on the primary data generated from 280 livestock farmers randomly selected from a purposively selected region of Andhra Pradesh state reveal that the Internet source of information is most beneficial in both socio-economic and cultural aspects. This may because, within no time one can communicate to other without considering physical and geographical barriers and providing up to date information and services well in advance has proved to be most beneficial for graduates and unemployed youth in rural areas, as well as for agriculture and rural development in general. Further, results reveal that the categories of farmers and place of access of information has not shown any influence on the perceptions of livestock farmers, while computer literacy and information intensity has shown positive relationship with that of benefits of Internet as perceived by the livestock farmers.
