Abstract

In the arid and semi-arid regions of the world, water catchments are often predominantly used as rangeland. Catchment management influences the quality and quantity of water that flows into rivers, lakes and wetlands and has a major impact on the life of artificial reservoirs. The theme of optimsing integrated catchment management will be treated holistically across a range of scales (landscape, land system, catchment, basin), with a focus on law, policy and implementation.
