Utilization of Community Institutional and Organizational Resources and the Implementation of Adult Basic and Functional Literacy Programmes in Cross River State

Abstract

The study investigated the influence of the utilization of community institutional and community organizational resources on the implementation of adult basic literacy and functional literacy programmes in Cross River State. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested. The survey research design was adopted for the study. The stratified and simple random sampling techniques were adopted to draw a sample of one thousand six hundred and eight subjects from the study population of eight thousand, seventy subjects. Two research instruments were employed for data collection, community institutional resources utilization and community organizational resources utilization questionnaire (CIORUQ) and the adult basic literacy and functional literacy programme implementation questionnaire (ABFLPIQ). One way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was employed for analysis of data. The result of the analysis revealed that utilization of community institutional resources and community organizational resources exerted significant influence on the implementation of both basic adult literacy and functional literacy programmes in Cross River State. Recommendations were premised on these findings.
