Abstract

This study permitted to improve the antibacterial activity of Phyllanthus amarus on the in vitro growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The results gave a minimal concentration extracts (BMC) as 5.0 ± 0.1 mg/ml and a concentration for 50% of inhibition (CI50) of 0.059 ± 0.005 mg/ml (n = 6) for the aqueous total extract. The BMC of 2.5 ± 0.2 mg/ml and a CI50 of 0.021 ± 0.005 mg/ml (n = 6) were revealed for the extract of 100% ethanol from of the aqueous total extract. The BMC was only of
0.63 ± 0.05 mg/ml and the CI50 of 0.014 ± 0.005 mg/ml (n = 6) for the fraction chromatographic F2. These data showed that the F2 fraction possesses a potential of elevated inhibitory activity, eight more time than the aqueous total extract and four time higher than the extract of 100% ethanol from of the aqueous total extract
