Abstract
A new indole alkaloid, picranitine, has been isolated from the seeds of Picralima nitida, along with five known indole alkaloids picratidine, akuammine, pseudoakuammine, akuammicine and akuammidine previously identified from the same source. Structures were elucidated through exhaustive spectral studies including 1D (1H and 13C NMR) and 2D-NMR (HMQC, HMBC and NOESY).
