Challenges Posed to Nigerian University Librarians by the Utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT)

SE Igun

Abstract

With the advent of the new technologies have come some
challenges. It is often assumed that these challenges are
encountered in varying degrees according to gender and years of practical experience. The primary aim of the paper was to
determine the extent to which this assumption is true. The researcher adopted the survey research method. The data and institutional setting were provided by the 13 university libraries in the South–South Zone of Nigeria with the 188 librarians working in them. The major findings were that the challenges posed by the utilization of ICT facilities were equally applicable to both genders and that librarians with lesser years of working
experience appreciate and observe the challenges better than the more experience ones.
