Innovative induction heating approach for on-site PVC bending and fabrication: design and realisation approach
Abstract
PVC is a widely used thermoplastic material that requires precise temperature management during processing to avoid degradation and ensure optimal material properties. Traditional heating methods often face challenges in achieving uniform and rapid heating, which can lead to material inconsistencies and inefficiencies. This study explores the development of an induction heating system, which leverages electromagnetic induction to generate heat directly within the PVC material. The design process involves the selection of appropriate coil configurations, power supply specifications, and control mechanisms to achieve the desired heating performance. The induction heater is designed to provide rapid and uniform heating, improving process efficiency and product quality. Results indicate that the induction heating system offers significant advantages over conventional heating methods, including faster heating times, enhanced temperature control, and reduced energy usage. Future work will focus on optimizing the system for different PVC formulations and scaling the design for commercial use.
