HIV/ADIS knowledge achievement among health education students at the point of graduation in Delta state university Abraka: Implication for curriculum development and practice

Abstract

Purpose: The study meant to evaluate the success of the Health Education Program at University of producing graduates capable of being resource persons in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Method: A pre-post achievement score test was used to assess knowledge of graduating Health Education Students and a control group against an entering background. A 25-qeustion items forms the questionnaire. First administered at the point entering (pre-test) and a secondly at the point of graduation (post-test) to both the experiment group (Health Education Students) and a control group (Social Science Education Students). Data analysis using a paired ttest.
Result: Health Education students had a significant HIV/AIDS achievement scores. Social Science Education (control) were not.
Conclusion: The issue of HIV/AIDS as part of university curriculum should be an issue for all discipline to keep most person knowledge of HIV/AIDS in the joint intersectional fight against HIV/AIDS.
