Abstract

As Africa rises and forges towards a more positive developmental outlook; scholars, community leaders, organizational executives and policy makers within Africa had on various occasions come to rethink the African Future. Amongst the nibbling thoughts, is the implementation of the Agenda 2063. The agenda, an ambitious vision and action plan intended to drive Africa’s change, development and transformation though welcomed, the thought on the role gender parity has to play is still challenged. Using qualitative methodology with secondary sources as instruments of data collection, the paper provided a comprehensive overview of how women’s right and inclusion in strategic sectors could aid the actualization of Agenda 2063. The study notes that the patriarchal and subjugated mindset in the society causes inequalities between men and women. The paper, making a legal and moral argument, calls for a holistic approach towards intersections of rights. It stresses the role for an inclusive gendered pattern and states the need for countries to revisit their legislation and take gender equality back to its basis.
