Abstract

The study was conducted in Peshawar and Nowshera districts of NWFP during winter 2004 in order to assess the impact of devolution on agricultural extension system. For this purpose, fifty-one percent of the total agriculture extension agents of Peshawar and Nowshera districts were interviewed. Most of the respondents reported no change in the facilities however, the multifarious duties, double chain command, burden of paper work, interference of provincial government etc., multiplied the constraints that hinders the activities of extension staff, after devolution of power. While the farm visits, demonstration plots and farmers training programmes remained unchanged after devolution.
