Bio Statement:                       Rogers Krobea Asante is currently a lecturer at the Department of Applied Linguistics in the College of Languages Education, University of Education, Winneba, Ghana. His research interests include the documentation and description of endangered Guang languages such as Nkami and Nkonya, Akan linguistics, and the typology of animacy in Kwa and Gur languages of Ghana.

Bio Statement:                       Hameed Tunde Asiru holds a Ph.D in English and Linguistics from Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya, M.A and B.Ed in English Language from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He teaches linguistic related courses in the Department of English and French, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, Nigeria. His research interests include: Discourse Analysis, Pragmatics, Semantics, Stylistics and Media Discourse. Hameed is currently working on migration and gender role de/reconstruction of Northern Nigerian women immigrants.

Bio Statement:                       Emily A. Ogutu is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of English and Linguistics, Kenyatta University, Kenya. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. She has published articles in international journals and participated in several international conferences. She has also supervised and examined a number of Master’s and Doctoral students locally and internationally.

Bio Statement:                       Daniel Ochieng Orwenjo holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Frankfurt in Germany (2009), a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics from Kenyatta University, Kenya (2004) and Bachelor of Education degree from Kenyatta University, Kenya. As an applied linguist, his main research interests revolve around the nexus between linguistics and other disciplines by focusing on the application of linguistic knowledge in solving real life problems in other disciplines such as education, law, anthropology, sociology and psychology on one hand; and using knowledge in these disciplines to solve linguistic problems on the other hand. Presently, his research focuses on early literacies practices and environments that preschool children are exposed to in western Kenya and how such exposure impacts on their literacy development at their onset of schooling.
