An appraisal of the pro-life ethics of John Paul II and its significance in society
Abstract
Most ethicists from the Christian tradition have nodded to the affirmation of the thought of John Paul II in his arguments for pro-life as significant in a holistic approach to societal wellbeing. This position has enjoyed a global scholarship, especially from the Christian religious ethics. No doubt, it is in the concept of the culture of life that the kernel of John Paul II’s pro-life ethics owes its life and action. Thus, the present study interprets pro-life as an invitation to an authentic lifestyle, against the backdrop of the agitation for pro-choice amongst some members of contemporary society. In its scope, the study focuses on John Paul II’s efforts at making pro-life an ethical paradigm for mankind. Notably, the research is carried out within the broad framework of Christian ethics. At the end, the paper points out the significance of John Paul II’s pro-life ethics in contemporary society.
