Availability and Utilization of Information Resources and Service by Academic Staff in University of Abuja

Abstract

This study investigated the availability and utilization of information resources and services by academic staff in University of Abuja. The study adopted the survey method. To elicit the necessary information, a questionnaire was designed and distributed to 220 academic staff who were randomly selected. Out of which there were 162 responses. Data collected were analyzed descriptively. The results revealed that the availability of library resources was fairly adequate and the library was under-utilized. Though the library services were available, staff were occasionally satisfied. The paper recommends improvement in library budgetary allocation, more community sensitization on library services, urgent completion of the library complex at the main campus and commissioning of the e-library project.
