Abstract

Over the years there has been a recognition that general competencies for librarians are needed. The introduction of Skills and tools into new services and products in Library and Information services, whether as a professional or a paraprofessional, is to carry out their work, role or designated tasks effectively and efficiently. To ensure that their workforce stays fit for the purpose and fit for practices, an organization must have adequate training. Electronic information sources are those documents that are available in digital formats. The tools employed by traditional librarians have undergone drastic changes, owing to the advancement in the field of Information and
Communication Technology, these require Information skills training for both staff and readers.
