Alache Ada Abah

Abstract

This study investigated the availability of learning resources on students’ academic performance in senior secondary schools in Kaduna State. To achieve the objective of the study, the study formulated three research questions and tested one null hypothesis. The survey research method was used. The instruments used to collect data were learning resource inventory, structured questionnaire, and available students’ results. The responses from the sampled students of senior secondary schools in Kaduna State were studied, analyzed in a tally using the SPSS. Thereafter, the mean score and the standard deviation (SD) were used in the analysis and the Multiple Regression Analysis was used to answer the hypothesis. The results revealed that availability of learning resources significantly affected the level of academic performance of students’ in senior secondary schools in Kaduna State. In view of this, a number of recommendations were made including the supply of more learning resources to public owned secondary schools in Kaduna State by the state government as most learning resources were grossly inadequate. Students should be supervised  and encouraged to maintain the few available learning resources and parents should be encouraged to support the state government by supplying some learning resources to secondary schools in the state,
