Awareness, attitude and impact of COVID 19 on librarians in academic libraries in Nasarawa State Nigeria

Abstract

This study was carried out on awareness, attitude and impact of COVID-19 on Librarians in Academic Libraries in Nasarawa State Nigeria. Three research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. Descriptive research design was used, the population of the study  consisted of 40 library personnel, spread across the six academic libraries in Nasarawa State Nigeria. The instrument used for data collection was a researcher designed questionnaire. Data generated was analyzed using descriptive statistics of mean and standard  deviation while the hypotheses were tested using Linear Regression. The results of the study revealed that there is a high level of  awareness of COVID19 among librarians in academic libraries in Nasarawa State; Librarians in academic libraries in Nasarawa State  develop positive attitude towards COVID-19; COVID-19 has impact on the food, social economic status, peace and security, health and human rights of librarians in academic libraries in Nasarawa State Nigeria. It was recommended that; there should be more awareness of COVID-19 to librarians, Librarians should sustain their positive attitudes towards COVID-19 and academic libraries without sanitizers and running water should be sealed.
