Awareness and use of web 2.0 features of OPAC in Fountain University Library, Osun State, Nigeria

Abstract

The study examined the awareness and usage of web 2.0 features in OPAC of Koha in Fountain University library,Osun State. The study adopted a survey design approach. The questionnaire was the instrument used in gathering data. Findings of the study revealed that most respondents do not use the web 2.0 features when searching the OPAC because they do not know their usefulness even though the study revealed that students are averagely aware of the Web 2.0 features of OPAC on Koha. Also, result from this study revealed that most students do not use the Web 2.0 features because they do not have the technical know-how, which prevented them from knowing their usefulness. The study, therefore, recommends that academic library in Nigeria should consider reviewing the curriculum on the use of Library course/Information Literacy course to include contents on the usefulness of Web 2.0/Social media features
