Abstract

The research examined the leadership style of librarians in two selected tertiary Institutions Libraries in Delta State (Delta State University Library, Abraka and Petroleum Training Institute Library, Effurun), Nigeria. Questionnaire was used to gather data from the two libraries. A total of 50 responses were used for this study. The collected data was analyzed using simple percentage and presented in Tables and chart. The study revealed that most librarians do not allow their subordinates to participate in decision making. Such librarians should adopt democratic, participative, coaching styles among others in leading their subordinates but must be conscious of the goals and objectives of the Institutions to assure job performance. It is therefore recommended that librarians should adopt the style of leadership that is positive - result - oriented.
