Phillip Simon Ekele

Abstract

Vocational education involves systematic learning experiences to fit individuals for gainful employment in recognized occupations. To solve the problem of unemployment in Nigeria, there is need to develop strategies on how to create new employment opportunities and encourage technically skilled workers to develop entrepreneurship skills and be creative in their own
employment. The population for this study consisted of all 294 vocational teachers in both secondary schools and Government Science and Technical Colleges in Edo State of Nigeria. The
sample consisted of 250 vocational teachers randomly selected. A 35 item questionnaire derived from literature was the instrument used to elicit information from the respondents. The instrument was administered by the researchers with the assistance of three other technical teachers and data collected were analyzed using mean and t-test. The findings of this study revealed that there is no significant difference between the mean ratings on the perception of N.C.E and B.Ed vocational teachers on the challenges and strategies for improving entrepreneurship education in vocational education.
