An Assessment of the Information Technology Workshop for Higher Institution Lecturers, Nigeria

Abstract

The paper is an assessment of the Information Technology (IT) workshop for higher institution lecturers, which was organized by the National Information Technology Development Agency, Nigeria. The major issues assessed were: the resourcefulness of the workshop facilitators/instructors, adequacy and quality the instructional materials/facilities used and the duration of the workshop. The study adopted descriptive design, questionnaire was used as the instrument for data collection while the data collected were analysed with the use of descriptive statistics. The outcome of the assessment shows that the instructors were resourceful although few (two) and their methods of teaching were however not acceptable; inadequacy of instructional materials/facilities; the available instructional materials/facilities were of good quality, and the duration of the programme was not adequate. Recommendations were however made to ameliorate the identified problems.
