Acquisition and Processing of Newspapers and Magazines in Jamb Library

Abstract

Newspaper management and preservation is the main theme of this articles. A theoretical overview of newspaper preservation was given. Efficient newspaper management and preservation implies understanding the meaning of preservation in general, as well as understanding specific approaches, methods and techniques that are included in newspaper preservation concepts. The paper also aimed to show the procedures for newspaper acquisition and management in JAMB Library. Also the problems militating against its effective management and preservation were discussed. Useful suggestions were made as a way forward.
