Abstract

From a total of 365 randomly selected employees of Guinness Nigeria Plc and Bendel Brewery, Benin City, Nigeria, this article has examined employee characteristics and employee adaptation in organizations. Employee adaptation is in relation to getting use to primary assignment to deal with it successfully. The article is in furtherance of employee participation because we had observed earlier that over 60.3% respondents had their disciplines in conformity with their areas of primary assignments in the organizations. Yet, precisely 51.8% tended to have indicated that they were not adapted to their ‘work now’. Although it could not be claimed that age, sex and religion were significant factors in employee adaptation other social action and interaction influencing variables were. These included marital status, education and income. It is therefore recommended that organizations should improve on adaptation program for ‘new and existing hires’ towards increasing productivity in work places.
