Abstract

The rising awareness on the virtues of rabbit meat production in Akwa Ibom State in the last decade resulted in increase in production of rabbit meat. In production, rabbit farmers employ the use of different resources in different combination. This study examines the level of efficiency in resource use by the rabbit farmers. Ikot-Ekpene agricultural zone of the State was purposively selected for the study because of the concentration of rabbit farmers in the zone. A total of 120 farmers were randomly selected across the 8 extension blocks (five local government areas) in the zone. Data on socio-economic characteristics were collected using structured questionnaires. Semi-log function formed the lead equation. It was found that there was inefficiency in the use of farm resources by the rabbit farmers. From the result of study, recommendations were made on measures necessary for the needed adjustments in resource use so as to achieve efficiency.
