Abstract

English Abstract

Research carried out by the Oceanological Research Center (CRO) focuses on highly prolific local species to overcome the deficiencies in animal proteins and reduce Ivorian imports. Our work concerns hybridizations between the Tilapia species (Oreochromis niloticus, Sarotherodon melanotheron, and Tilapia  guineensis) that are studied at the Layo experimental aquaculture station. Principal component analyzes (PCAs) based on 90 hybrids of respectively O. niloticus and T. guineensis, and also hybrides of O. niloticus and S. melanotheron were established. The ACP matrix of the O. niloticus and T. guineensis hybrids is composed of 11 meristic characters and 25 metric characters, while that of O. niloticus and S. melanotheron is composed of 12 meristic characters and 26 metric characters. The distribution of hybrids individuals from the study shows that three (03) groups emerge. These groups may be recombinations between the hybrids themselves or between the hybrids and their respective parent strains of O. niloticus, S. melanotheron and T. guineensis. This study confirms the hybridizations in the experimental aquaculture station of Layo, by the existence of various recombined taxa whose strains will have to be clearly identified through a genetic study.
