Abstract

English Abstract

This study was carried out in the Sahelian area in Aguié (Niger) with the aim to develop allometric models for estimating the aboveground biomass Faidherbia albida in the agrosystems. The direct method consisting of cutting down and weighing compartment by compartment biomass using the tree samples is used. Two types of model were tested: the power model (y = axb ) and the polynomial model (y = a + bx + cx2 and y = a + bx + cx2 + dx3) with y the total aboveground biomass; x the dendrometric parameter and a, b, c and d the equations coefficients. The selection and models validity criteria are first based on the  normality, nullity, heterogeneity and residues autocorélation tests. Then, is performed the analysis of errors including the residual error, the residual standard error (RSE) and the Akaike information criterion (AIC). The results show that the power model with the equation y = 0,112x2, 2335, seems to be the most appropriate for the estimation of aboveground biomass (y) of this species in these agrosystems based on the diameter at breast height (x).  These results can be used in the evaluation of sequestered carbon by F. albida parklands, and could be used as part of climate change adaptation.
