Abstract

English Abstract

An analysis of key stakeholders was made to study the socio-cultural aspects of the use of B. aethiopum. A combination of group interviews and semi-structured  interviews allowed the identification of actors and their categorization according to the perception of the actors themselves. Data were collected on the perception of the people, power, and fears of actors over the sustainability of the services provided on the species and its habitats. B. aethiopum proved to be a resource to no explicit property rights. Three major categories of actors were identified: actors with short-term destructive actions, actors with destructive actions in the short and medium term viability of the species and actors whose activities relate to the  regulation habitat of the species. Among actors of the same class, there are  relationships convergences of interests while conflicts of interest were detected  between actors belonging to different categories. For sustainability B. aethiopum and habitats, management strategies must take into account the many and varied uses of the species by the different socio-linguistic groups and the conflicts and  convergences of interests of different stakeholders.
