The use of value iteration to minimize the costs of shipping different goods

Abstract

We considered the use of value iteration to minimize the costs of shipping different goods from the factories to the markets. We also determined the policy that will yield the optimum costs in the operation. Seven different policies were considered in solving the problem. The ompany estimated
10% of the goods in transit to be lost or damaged. The costs of the damaged goods were added to the costs of the shippment. MATLAB was used to solve the problem. It was found that the minimum cost of shiping the goods from the factories to the market is N6203.90
