Deonie Botha

Abstract

Globalisation has resulted in the creation of multinational enterprises. Employees from a variety of cultures characterize these multinational enterprises and thus their work related values and attitudes would differ accordingly. This article starts by focusing on the differences in work-related values and attitudes from the perspective of the Eastern and Western cultures. This is followed by a discussion on the manner in which their cultural diversity impacts on their view of knowledge, knowledge processes and knowledge management. In conclusion the African concept of Ubuntu is explained in order to indicate how it shapes the work related to attitudes and values of Africans in enterprises as well as its impact on knowledge, knowledge processes and knowledge management.
