I Belato di quella Donna: Analisi Degli Elementi Sessisti Nello Zingarelli 1999
AbstractThe aim of the present paper is to establish the extent to which sexist features in contemporary Italian may affect mainstream lexicography. Analysis of a sample of entries in a standard monolingual dictionary of Italian, Zingarelli 1999, has revealed that the masculine gender is still privileged in regard to both lemmatization and phraseological choices. The portrayal of women within the dictionary also betrays a fundamentally male-centred outlook.
