This journal is supported by funds from the African Association of Physiological Sciences chiefly through membership fees of national societies.
Peer Review
All manuscripts submitted are reviewed by an assigned editorial board committee member and at least two referees. The referees are recommended by the editorial board members. A double blind peer review process is used, such that the reviewers are not informed about the details of the authors and vice versa. The decision to accept or reject a paper rests on the editor-in-chief. Papers that do not comply with the journal requirements are rejected without review. The decision on a paper is normally reached within 3-5 weeks.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Furthermore, authors publish free and are not required to pay any article processing charges and readers have free access and can download all articles freely. All articles published in this journal are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, unless otherwise stated.
General
Focus and Scope
Journal of African Association of Physiological Sciences (JAAPS) is an international, bi-annual official publication of African Association of Physiological Sciences. Both print and online forms are available for issues up to 2021. However, since 2022 the Journal is published as an online version only. The journal is aimed at dissemination of information on diverse areas of research in Physiological Sciences disciplines and to showcase a representative cross-section of the kinds of research being carried out in Africa, in particular and globally. The journal was established in 2012 at the congress of African Association of Physiological Sciences held in Egypt. The journal will consider for publication, full-length original research articles, letters to the editor, short communications as well as review articles.
