Documentation practice of music results in Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt

Abstract

Rules and regulations are usually benchmarks made to guide organizations and institutions in the performance of their duties. These rules and regulations are usually kept for references and for record purposes. Schools keep records, and documents for their day-to-day and future uses. The success or failure of any organization is surely dependent on the proper record keeping and documentation. In schools, this process is engaged to ensure the safety of students’ records and results. How effective is the process? This study investigated the practice and the importance of keeping and documenting Music students’ results in Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt. Five (5) research questions were raised to guide this study. A descriptive design survey was used with a population of thirteen (13) respondents of teaching and non-reaching staff of the Department of Music. Simple percentage (%) was used to analyze the data. Results revealed that result documentation is practised for proper accountability, administrative purpose, as well as to serve as information bank. Recommendations were also made.
