Bibliographic Analysis of Nigerian Finfish and Fisheries Research from Colonial Era to Present

CS Nwadiaro

Abstract

A bibliography of finfish and its fisheries research in Nigeria's inland waters (sensu lato) is compiled with 439 publications assessed. These are commented on with respect to geographic, biotope/catchment and taxonomic spread. The southwest of Nigeria was most favoured with respect to geographic zone: with Lake Kainji/River Niger topping the list (14%) of the biotopes and its species the most attended to. Views are adduced for the trends.
