Abstract

A survey was carried out at the Mumbles Pier Ares of Swansea in the United Kingdom to determine whether or not oil spills and other human activity in the region affected the distribution of Pycnogonids (Sea spiders) within the area. Results indicate that the oil spills have no effect on the presence or absence of these organisms. Questions are raised as to how the sea spiders are able to evade the negative effects of an oil spill.
