Abstract

The wood industry in Ghana has over the years contributed immensely to the GDP of Ghana. The industry has been one of the main sources of foreign exchange for Ghana. Furthermore, it has over the years been a source of employment to many Ghanaians. However, some recent studies and report seem to suggest that the sector's contribution to Ghana's GDP is declining. Consequently, this study seeks to evaluate the contribution of the wood industry to the GDP of Ghana. This study relied on annual reports from the wood industry and some existing studies for the evaluation. The findings show that there has been a consistent decline in performance of the wood industry to the GDP of Ghana. The implications of the findings and recommendations have been provided at the end of the paper.
