Family members' beliefs about the impact of needs satisfaction on conflict resolution in Jos metropolis, Plateau state

Abstract

This study investigated family members' beliefs about the impact of needs satisfaction on conflict resolution in Jos metropolis, Plateau State. A sample size of 120 family members were drawn from 60 families in Jos metropolis using purposive sampling. A 25-item structured questionnaire on family members' beliefs about the impact of needs satisfaction on conflict resolution was employed for the study (FMBAINSCR). The study employed descriptive research design. Frequency counts and percentages were used to answer the research question. The results revealed that family members believe that need satisfaction has significant impact on conflict resolution for harmonious family living. The place of needs satisfaction in resolving family problems cannot be over-emphasized. Thus it was recommended among others that much attention should be paid to physiological and safety needs for harmonious family living.
