Effects of mathematics learning corner on preschoolers' mathematical skills in Jos South, Plateau

Abstract

This study set out to examine the effect that mathematics learning corner has on nursery pupils' mathematical skills in Jos South, Plateau state. The research design was a quasi-experimental research design. The sample of the study comprised of 48 pupils in two intact groups who were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The instrument for data collection was the Rating Scale for Preschoolers Mathematical Skills (RSPMS) and data was analyzed using t-test. The findings of the study revealed that mathematics learning corner enhanced the mathematical skills of preschoolers irrespective of their gender. It was recommended that teachers should create mathematics learning corners in their classrooms so that pupils can develop the mathematical skills required for
starting formal schooling.
