Effective valence as the control parameter of the superconducting iron pnictide Tc

Godfrey E Akpojotor

Abstract

One approach to investigating the superconductivity in the ironbased materials is understanding the chemical and structural parameters that can be used to tune their remarkably high Tc. In this paper, we have demonstrated that the effective valence of iron can be used as the control parameter to tune the Tc of this family of superconducting materials. This is achieved by postulating that our model of spin fluctuation which has been used to successfully account for the superconductivity in the cuprates in Ref. [21] can also be applied to the superconducting iron-based materials.
